Artifact 1: Servant Leadership Analysis from HHPS 584: Administration in Sport

According to the course catalog, “this class is designed as an introductory graduate level administration and management course for prospective sport and rec managers, and encompasses both theory and practice, with the focus on management practice in sport organizations”. This assignment investigated the benefit of servant leadership in sport, in relation to other forms of leadership such as transformational, transactional, and the like. The conclusion was that the best leadership style had as much to do with the organization and position as it did the leader executing the duties of the leader.

Artifact 2: The Captain from HHPL 528: Sport Psychology:

According to the course catalog description, “this course will focus on the relationship of psychology to sport”. This assignment focused on motivation for professional athletes at different stages in their lives. The Captain is the story of Derek Jeter and how he approached his career to help him become one of the greatest shortstops in MLB history. From is first years with the New York Yankees to his movement through early retirement, Derek Jeter always wanted to be the best at what he was doing.
