Outcome III

To identify a question, investigate a problem, and draw a relevant conclusion about the current issue within their concentration.

Artifact 1: Athletes as Employees from HHPS 539 Sport Law:

According to university course description, “this course is designed to prepare students with the knowledge and the ability to apply the basic legal doctrines that will enhance their ability to problem-solve effectively and make prudent management and operational decisions”. This paper focused on the legal arguments focusing on NCAA students-athletes being considered employees of their university. As the progress of NIL in both high schools and universities continues to move in multiple directions, this is an issue that is something any individual in athletic administration needs to stay up to date on as it will impact most administrative positions in the field.

Artifact 2: High School NIL Survey from HHPK 595: Critiquing and Conducting Research

According to the course syllabus, this course seeks to help students “understand terminology related to research, understand various types and designs of research in health, kinesiology, and sport studies, critique research in their respective fields, and demonstrate the ability to write an intro, lit review, and methodology sections of a research proposal”. In this assignment, a research plan was developed to help determine if high school coaches agreed or disagreed that NIL in high school should exists and what the outcome would be if it were to come to fruition in Texas high school athletics.
