Artifact 1: Athlete Mental Health Programs from HHPS 566: Issues in International Sport:

According to the university course catalog “the purpose of this class is to introduce some of the contemporary issues facing sport managers around the world and will begin to examine mechanisms that could be utilized in order to address the potential impacts of such issues”. This artifact assessed the passed issues that had plagued student-athletes and their mental health. Past programs were investigated as were stories that demonstrated how “big time” athletes dealt with their own struggles, worked to come out on the other side, and how they used their stories to help others.

Artifact 2: WNBA Financial Analysis from HHPS 584 Administration in Sport:

According to the university course catalog, “ This class is designed as an introductory graduate level administration and management course for prospective sport and rec managers, and encompasses both theory and practice, with the focus on management practice in sport organizations”. This assignment assessed the issue with the gender pay gap and the potential issues that could be a cause for this issue. In the analysis, the annual loss for the WNBA was investigated as was the new television contracts and what that could mean for the, then, pending negotiations for the player lockouts that were being threatened as a means to push negotiations forward.
